About Us

About CWGI

Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is to provide a fun and comfortable environment for women to take up, or continue playing, and improve their game of golf while expanding friendships, improving networks, and giving back to the community.

Quoting one of our longtime members (Lorraine Norwood): “I’m grateful to be part of CWGI, to have the opportunity to grow, be challenged, to have a safe place for women to be themselves and to meet exceptional women while having fun. As frustrated as I get with myself sometimes, it’s a joy to be a member of this league and play golf to my heart’s content.  Perfection not required.”

Our Story
Canadian Women Golfers Inc. is the only all-woman golf organization in the Ottawa/Gatineau region. We have been in existence since 1995. CWGI was created out of the desire from a small group of local women who wanted to explore different courses and play golf in a fun and social environment. It started with only three (3), 9-hole games per week at Pineview, Chaudière and Loch March.

We celebrated our 30th season in 2025 with a league membership of over 360 ladies. Despite our large number of members, it never feels crowded or impersonal since we offer so many playing options.

Our Advantage

As a CWGI member, you can choose from a great variety of games and courses.
We offer 18 games per week at different courses. Yes, that’s right! We currently organize twelve (12), 9-hole games and six (6), 18-hole games per week. Throughout the golf season, CWGI members get to play golf at over 55 courses throughout the Ottawa/Gatineau region. We’re very proud of this accomplishment — especially since we still maintain the same sense of fun, friendship and comradery.

Our Golden Rule – Pace of Play

CWGI is for all levels of golfers. We remember what it was like when we first took up golf and/or returned to the sport many years later. Without a network of female golf friends, it can be quite intimidating and daunting. We created CWGI to help remove all these barriers and concerns for you.

All that we ask is that you observe the rules of sportsmanship, good golf etiquette and manage your pace of play to ensure a smooth flowing and enjoyable game for all. Watch this quick clip below.
